Explore the Beaches in the Cape Tribulation AreaCAPE KIMBERLEYThe beach closest to the Daintree River and which offers a great beach walk to the mouth of the Daintree River.
COW BAY BEACHThe ideal place for those looking for a ‘deserted beach’ experience. It is possible to walk north along the beach and go around the headlands to reach even more isolated beaches.
THORNTON BEACH
A great place to walk and experience ‘where the rainforest meets the reef’. You can walk to the mouth of Cooper Creek, one of Australia’s richest mangrove systems.
COCONUT BEACH
Can be seen from the main road, just before you arrive at Cape Tribulation. You can walk through to the beach, or access it via the Coconut Beach Resort Restaurant at The Long House. The fringing reef at Coconut Beach is a great place to explore at low tide.
MYALL BEACH
Located on the southerly side of the Cape Tribulation headland, and there is a popular swimming spot opposite the Dubuji entrance to the beach, which has no fringing reef.
CAPE TRIBULATION BEACH
Located on the northern side of the Cape Tribulation headland and is the most sheltered location when the south east trade winds are blowing.
EMMAGEN BEACHLocated about 5 kilometres north of Cape Tribulation. A Giant Strangler Fig about 800 metres south of Emmagen Creek marks the start of a rough track which leads to the beach. Do not swim here as a crocodiles frequent the area. It is possible to walk back along the coast to Cape Tribulation Beach, if it is low tide.
COWIE BEACHA remote and wild beach 20 minutes drive north of Cape Tribulation on the Bloomfield Track. Has wonderful mangroves and is spectacular at low tides.
